Responsible for preparing assigned vegetables for patient line, employee line, and all catered events.  Responsible for serving food to customers in a personable manner.





  1. Must be able to stand for at least 11 hours a day.

  2. Must be able to walk on concrete surfaces.

  3. Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds following required safety guidelines.

  4. Must be able to carry a minimum of 25 pounds each day for a short distance such as carry a case of tomatoes to work station.

  5. Must bend and stoop frequently during the day.

  6. Must be able to see near and far.

  7. Physical demand level is medium with 10-25 pounds being demanded 0-33% of the day.

  8. Most of the work will be indoors but must be able to tolerate sudden and extreme changes in temperature.

  9. Job requires performing the same task, according to production sheets, each day.

  10. Job requires employee to understand written and verbal instructions.

  11. Job requires employee to read and understand production worksheets.

  12. Job requires employee to follow regulations of the industry (Health Codes).

  13. Job requires employee to weigh or count products that are produced.

  14. Job requires dealing with people in a personable way.

  15. Job requires the ability to speak and convey information to the customer.

  16. Must have ability to learn to use cash handling machines and follow cash handling procedure.

  17. Job requires the ability to move fingers and manipulate small keys rapidly and accurately.




  1. One year experience in foodservice.

  2. Knowledge of and experience practicing proper safety standards in handling food and equipment.

  3. Job requires working with utensils, knives and other equipment to produce products.

  4. Must possess the ability to learn a variety of tasks to perform job.





A vegetable cook/line server is directly supervised by the dietary supervisor with no responsibilities in management or personnel supervision.




  1. Responsible for the preparation of all assigned vegetables.

  2. Handle food, equipment and utensils in accordance with sanitary and safety           regulations.

  3. Responsible for the collection of money for products sold.

  4. Maintain cooking area, serving area, food cart area, equipment and utensils in a clean, neat and orderly manner.  

  5. Positive interaction with co-workers, clients, supervisors and the hospital employees.

  6. Follow all company and client policies, rules, and regulations.

7.   Ensure that all hot foods are more than 140 degrees F and cold foods are less than 40     degrees F.


The position responsibilities may not be the only requirements of the position.  It may be necessary to follow other instructions or perform other related duties required by South Sunflower County Hospital and Valley Innovative Services in order to conduct daily operations and meet corporate goals and objectives.
