SUMMARY:  Prepares and cooks meals for patients and employees of facility by performing the following duties:

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

            Cooks food in quantities according to the menu and number of persons being served

            Washes dishes

            Serves meals

Responsible for preparing, cooking and portioning all menu items by following instructions on standardized recipes and production sheets

Responsible for ensuring consistent quality on assigned menu items

Ensure the serving line is properly maintained

Maintain the cooking area, equipment and utensils in clean, sanitary, neat and orderly manner

Follow all policies, rules and regulations

Maintain a positive interaction with co-workers, supervisors and public at large

Ensure that hot foods are more than 140 ‘ F and cold foods are less than 40 ‘ F

Any other duties as assigned by the director or administration

 

 

Qualification requirements: 

            Education:  Less than high school education or up to one month related training. 

Must have at least one year’s experience in volume cooking

 

            Language skills:  Ability to read, write and speak simple sentences

 

Math skills:  Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide and ability to perform these operations using units of money and weight measurement and volume

 

Physical demands:  The physical demands are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of  this job.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable an individual with disabilities to perform the essential functions.   The employee is required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, talk, stoop, kneel, crouch,  lift and turn.  The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
