Job Description

 

Summary: This employee’s primary duties will be related to answering the pbx system.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Other duties may be assigned.

  • Answering the phone in a polite and professional manner

  • Transferring calls to the appropriate department and/or taking a message when needed.

  • Monitor patient flow in the waiting room to ensure that patients are comfortable while they wait.

  • Assist with preparing surgery charts

  • Enforces visitor policy as outlined in the hospital-wide policy and procedure manual.

  • Hours are from 7:00 am until 8:00 pm with an hour lunch and two 15-minute breaks.

  • Direct patients and family members to the appropriate locations

 

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Customer Service – Strong customer service skills responding calmly and with a smile to all patients. Reaches out to the supervisor when unable to handle situations. Always answering the phone/greeting patients with a smile.

Education and/or Experience                                             

High school education or GED

 

Language Skills                                            

Ability to read and understand three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between a series of numbers.

 

Mathematical Skills                                                 

Ability to perform basic math skills.

 

Reasoning Ability                                                     

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out simple step by step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with occasional variables.

 

Other Skills and Abilities

Must be able to work without constant supervision.
