Job Title: ED Outpatient Clerk
Department: Business Office
Reports To: Billing Office Supervisor/Business Office Manager
Summary: This employee’s primary duties will be related to outpatient/ancillary admissions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Complete admissions by set procedures on patients requiring emergency department services including scanning documents into the Healthland System.
Other Admission duties as needed
Assisting patients into and around the hospital when needed.
Assisting other ED staff when needed.
Breaks are allowed as the workload permits up to two 15 minute breaks per day.
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience
High school education or GED, or 3 months of related experience.
Ability to read and understand three syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between a series of numbers.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute percent.
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out simple step by step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with occasional variables.
Other Skills and Abilities
Must have computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office 7 Professional.
Must be able to work without constant supervision.
