South Sunflower County Hospital is a 49-bed general acute care public hospital, with three Rural Family Practice clinics and a Surgical Clinic serving a rural population in the Mississippi Delta. It was established in 1939 to provide primary care to a diverse population.

 

In 2013, South Sunflower County Hospital embarked on the most aggressive renovation project in its history.  Completed in July 2017, the present modernized facility is a well-equipped, full-service hospital; which includes significant additions and improvements to provide excellent quality care and superior customer service while increasing service lines to develop a patient-centered health care system to meet the evolving needs of our community.

 

With this renovation project, South Sunflower County Hospital has increased its service lines to include Swing Bed Unit, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Podiatry, Behavioral Health, Pain Management, ENT Services, and Wound Care Center. Additionally, we have enhanced these service lines to include lab, radiology, respiratory, surgical suites, and a telemetry unit.

 

South Sunflower County Hospital is the 4th largest employer in Indianola that has an economic impact equivalent to employing over 350 employees. South Sunflower County Hospital not only has an impact on the health and welfare of the community, but it also has a total economic impact of $48,110,000 for Sunflower County.
